Dungy joins IMPD Effort to Reduce Gun and Gang Crime
By Don Riley 8/18/2008
One of Indiana's favorite role models is the new spokesman for
combating gun and gang crime in and around Marion County.
Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy is spearheading the
"Stand Up Against Gun and Gang Crime" campaign for Indiana
Project Safe Neighborhoods.
Dungy's message to young men is that carrying guns or joining gangs
are not good choices.
Indianapolis Metro Police Department Chief Michael Spears says Dungy
has proven himself to be a very effective spokesman for local causes
and hopes his involvement with helping to stem gun and gang crime
will be no exception.
To report gun or gang crime in their neighborhood, Dungy is urging
people to call 327-STOP. The information will go directly to the
appropriate IMPD investigators.
